So, I got me a shiny new Canon 9000-something photo scanner. Yeah, congrats, thanks, moving on.. I mainly got it because my late father (God Bless Him) left us a large collection of old family photos. Of course, since sending them to a studio was too expensive in return for crappy web-size scans of poor quality, the option of a nice scanner was the best move.
As I started working with old photos, I had these weird feelings. I felt a connection with every photo I hold. As if they were pieces of me. After giving it some thought, I found that holding a printed photo in your hand contributes greatly to those feelings. Those faded colors, wrinkle

Ever since I started taking pictures, I was dreaming of International Photography Awards and looking at it as an inapproachable competition. I've been too afraid to even participate since I had this idea that my work wont even make it through the first elimination.
This year, I had the cojones to enter and expect nothing. And nothing was what I got, only, they gave me an honorable mention in the non-pro underwater category for this photo:

I did a bit of shopping lately to prepare myself for my next dive trip. This time, it's Puerto Galera, Phillpines. One of the capitals of underwater macro photography. I haven't dived since early December 2009 :s . Simply never had the time or the mood especially after the passing of my father RIP.
Anyways, I've been trying to prepare myself to avoid the camera/housing/lighting failures that I had in Sharm. Those failures were very annoying and depressing. Therefore I updated my lighting system and did a few tests that turned to be awesome.
Wish me luck, people. I'm not diving for fun this time, It's going to be a serious photoshoot. :D
